A Level Politics Students Tour House of Commons
Year 12 and 13 Politics students visited the Houses of Parliament recently. We had a tour of the Palace of Westminster which included seeing a ceremonial procession of the Commons Speaker John Bercow ready to open the day's business.
In the education centre the students researched three pressure groups and analysed their success, methods and typology.
Afterwards, the MP for Thurrock Jackie Doyle Price (pictured below with our students) visited our group for a question and answer session. The students asked challenging questions about the local area such as the impact of Brexit, anti-social behaviour and the environment.
Finally, before returning to HACH we visited the Supreme Court of the UK, the highest court in the land, which opened in 2009.
