SEND Team Wins Prestigious Award
We are pleased to announce that Harris Academy Chafford Hundred has been awarded the SEND Inclusion Award (SENDIA) in recognition of the excellent support we give to pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
We achieved the award after a rigorous assessment process carried out by independent inspectors and would like to congratulate Mrs Sneddon, Mrs Colston and our SEND team for their amazing work.
The award demonstrates that our school has achieved an outstanding level of SEND provision.
“Commitment, experience, professionalism”
Inspectors said that the main strength of SEND provision at the school is the “commitment, experience and professionalism of the SEND team,” adding that the school had “clearly developed the SENDIA process with considerable commitment”. Their report stated that:
- The lesson observations illustrated good practice
- The meeting with three students illustrated the impact of the good practice at the Academy
- The Academy provides an excellent environment for SEND students.
Students clearly enjoy life at HACH, the inspectors said, quoting students saying things such as: “They take our decisions on board”, “The good teaching is welcome”, "They make us feel normal”, “There’s always someone to help”.
"Dedicated and passionate team"
Executive Principal, Nicola Graham said: “I am very proud to receive the award; it is a most welcome accolade and is testament to the hard work of our dedicated and passionate team of staff. The verification of our practice and plans is reassuring as it confirms that we are offering our students the best chances for their future.”
