HACH Hosts Latin Spelling Bee for 17 Schools
For the third consecutive year, Harris Academy Chafford Hundred has organised the Latin Spelling Bee, hosting 17 schools from across the country.
The whole school was immensely supportive in enabling the smooth running of the competition and the performances from HACH students added to the excitement.
The enthusiasm and spirit of healthy competition shown by all contestants and teachers during the process made this event truly inspiring. A part of this success was also due to the contribution of our sponsors from the Classical Association, Dr Michael Scott, Caroline Lawrence and Emily Hauser.
The Latin Spelling Bee has been embraced by both state and independent schools with 120 students taking part this year. Our determination to establish Classics within our school and the wider community was well-rewarded by the presence of these outstanding schools and the support of renowned Classics professors and authors. The attendance of representatives from Cambridge (Steven Hunt) and Warwick universities (Dr Michael Scott) as well as King’s College London (Dr Aisha Khan- Evans) undoubtedly added to the success of this event.
We would like to thank all those who dedicated their time to this incredible event and look forward to attracting even more participants next year.
