Camps International Adventure in Borneo
While most Year 11 students enjoyed putting their feet up over the summer after a stressful GCSE exam season Katie and Ellie decided to travel to Borneo with Camps International. This organisation specialises in 4-week summer expeditions, which incorporate a mixture of community, environmental, adventure and wildlife elements, designed to develop personal strengths and abilities. It certainly proved to be a life changing experience for Ellie and Katie.
As well as building a running track and a car park for two communities, the girls embarked on a 5-day trek through the jungle, surrounded by exotic wildlife. They slept in hammocks and had the chance to learn jungle first aid as well as survival techniques.
There was some time for them to relax and spend time with the other students taking part in this adventure as their beautiful pictures show.
The girls are now back into the routine of Sixth Form life but their experience of Borneo will stay with them forever. They are already planning a GAP year trip with Camps International to another destination after college.
We wish them every success in their studies and future travels.
